The XC3 Team has been spending weekends prepping for your first race of the 2021 race season. The majority of the property is a working cattle ranch, and everywhere them cows do not go is where we will be racing. The majority of the ranch is bottom land cattle pasture, and we won’t use any of that space, we’ll head into the brush and woods on the hill sides where the rest of the property is; as the saying goes, as steep as a cow’s face.

So here’s 3 little things racers need to know:

1) Kids course racers make sure you have good tire traction and good brakes!

2) Short course racers make sure you have good tire traction and good brakes!

3) Long course racers make sure you have good tire traction and good brakes!

Course Notes:

Grass Track ✔️
Single Track ✔️
Hill Climbs ✔️
Steep Descents ✔️
Creek Crossings ✔️
Rough & Rocky ✔️
Brush Thickets ✔️
Big Timber ✔️

Bring your friends and family and be ready to have smiles for miles.

Racers just a minor update to share that while many of you were enjoying the fine riding at the Almosta Race or wherever you spent your New Year’s Day we wrapped up the final bit of flagging for the Old Chisum Trail race track. We are sure to make some adjustments in a few spots that may change the final mileage, but expect the race course to be about 7 miles.

I’ve put this in previous posts but also expect a lot of elevation change. The terrain on this property is littered with hills and will provide quite a challenge. If you haven’t made your New Year Resolution yet then I’d suggest getting in shape for this race would be a good start.

Finally if you are a Facebook user and would like to follow updates for this race you can find more at: https://www.facebook.com/oldchisumtrail/

Yes sir, that’ll get you close enough to see the signs, and if that don’t work this link here below will get you to the gate that leads into the field where everyone will be parking.

Racers we are beyond excited to bring this track to life. The team put in 12 hours on Friday & Saturday to make the final connections of existing track that was flagged and cut. We had excellent help yesterday and late in the day a small group of riders were able to put in the very first test laps of a brand new track. Those test laps gave us a list of minor changes and adjustments to bring it up to our standards. The long race course is going to be a little over 7 miles. The first reviews from the test riders. All smiles....

A quick update on the progression of this track. Our first weekend to ride was shortly after a week full of very wet weather. This immediately led to finding a few spots on the short and long course where it was clear the ground wouldn’t hold up to a full race. This last weekend we re-routed a couple of those spots and made plans to re-route a couple more.

While the track does have a lot of steep terrain we had three of our Junior A riders make two full laps on the long course. As we close out work on the track between now and race weekend we are down to finishing touches that will focus on great flow and safety. Most of our regular racers know that we tend to develop racey, race tracks.

GoPro footage was supposed to happen but my new AMA approved GoPro mount is currently lost in the mail. I ordered it 3 weeks ago and still 'patiently' awaiting it's arrival. If all the stars aligned right, there may be a chance for some GoPro footage later this week (don't get your hopes up unless you have lots of faith in USPS).

Short course is between 2.5-3 miles long

We spent this past Saturday at the track and added some bridging materials to the last 'low' spots we could remember. I think we have approximately 8-12 bridges because we hate mud holes too! Keep your fingers crossed that the wind and sun do amazing things this week.

The Old Chisum Trail Hare Scramble is POSTPONED to June 13th. PLEASE SHARE. Due to heavy snowfall last week, subsequent freeze-thaw conditions, the weekend weather forecast and landowner relations we must postpone the Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series race this weekend.

Attention Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series Racers and fans pictured here is the parking and camping field. We’ve drawn up some parking logistics that we request you observe. Here’s the TOP THREE things you need to know.

1) The entry to the gates is 10 yards off the highway. You turn left off the Highway, then swing wide and immediately turn left again to get into the field.

2) No speeding in the field, you’ll break an axle, or knock momma’s dishes out of the cabinet. Like all old cow pastures in Arkansas, its as rough as a cobb.

3) Bring extra boards for leveling. The field is gently sloped, and you’ll want extra boards for sleeping level.
